Caring for your flowers

When you receive your flowers take care when removing any packaging. If the flowers have been aqua packed please ensure you remove the bubble of water over a sink, re-cut the stems and place into a suitable vase together with the flower food provided. We recommend re-cutting and changing the water every few days to increase the life of your flowers. Be sure not to overfill the vase, as the flowers would prefer only a few inches of water, which can be topped up when needed.

Baskets and arrangements should be placed onto a mat or dish before being displayed so as not to mark or damage furniture. The water needs to be topped up daily to keep the foam moist; this should be done over a sink.

Plants should be watered regularly and fed every two weeks. Always read the care card attached, as some plants require more special care. Orchids in particular need to be kept away from direct sunlight and draught. They never like to sit in water, but allow the water to run through its pot under a tap.

At Poppys we receive a fresh flower delivery everyday of the week. Our largest supplies arrive direct from Holland on Wednesday and Friday with local deliveries topping us up in between. Many varieties of locally grown flowers are also obtained when in season.
